The Mathos CTU is an open-source combat droid able to be customized and reprogrammed. Unlike the droids produced by the major Age of Machines industries, the CTU can fight for any cause, civilization or person. Thus, all such open-source droids carry a label—mercenary droids. There are many varieties of CTU in the Age of Machines world. Due to the broad range of potential changes to this droid, these mercenaries vary in strength and ability. Per the original factory settings designed by Advanced Tools and Hardware, the CTU is a light combat droid best suited for guerilla warfare. Like other Age of Machines droids, the CTU is able to execute thousands of unique military combat strategies, all outlined by its operating system.
There are many varieties of CTU around the Age of Machines world. This droid can function even with basic aluminum arms and legs if necessary. However, employing such primitive metals and alloys will affect the functions and abilities of this droid. Factory models come with an intricate metal admixture labeled Scinica XFC. Although the official chemical breakdown of this admixture has not been publicly released, it is believed that Scinica is mostly made of the metals Scirium and Ryca, which are found in the TGV-15 galaxy. The admixture XFC is difficult to track, even with the sophisticated military radar equipping Age of Machines robots.
Unaltered factory-version CTUs are equipped with combat artificial intelligence system WHM-GMM T-1.X. It is based on Weiss-Pickerton's pioneering combat artificial intelligence system BPR-CMN, but modified to enhance the CTU’s stealth mode and excel in guerilla warfare. The WHM in the system name stands for “Westholmme,” the founder of Advanced Tools and Hardware. GMM is the family to which all combat AIs from ATH belong, and it is an acronym for “Ghastly Morning Mist.”
Under the hood:
In comparison to other AOM droids, the most innovative and advantageous part of the CTU is its Randusa Force Collector engine system. It collects energy that is about to be created, sort of traveling to the future to use it to propel the present. RFC is able to collect one source of energy from the future as well as to "steal" energy from other systems, giving the CTU the initial advantage and the element of surprise.
As with other AOM droids, the CTU’s weapon systems are tied to the engine systems. This means CTUs don't carry any traditional weapons; the droids themselves are weapons. CTUs are equipped with PurePact Blasters that use powerful PurePact energy rays to destroy targets. Energy outputs are located on the most convenient spots on the droid's body, eyes, chest and palms.
